Join us for a weekly aerial fabric choreography class. We will explore sequencing, expression and movement on and off the aerial fabric. Each week we will do a warmup, movement exploration and then learn some choreography. This class will provide opportunities to perform for classmates and develop personal style.

In this series class, you will learn about different techniques for climbing, sliding and some different ways of holding yourself on Chinese Pole. A great way to build strength while having fun!

This 6-week poi series is open to beginners or experienced spinners alike. We will cover the basics of moving, turning, and overall mobility with poi - giving you the tools to move WITH your props, rather than around them.

We’ll work together on tricks and drills to keep the body solid and operating as a single unit within that elusive perfect handstand line. We’ll also spend time on other balancing skills and learn how to strengthen and stretch the body for hand balancing success.

SERIES BASED CLASS~ please commit to the full session, as you will be taking part in a performance!

Via the red nose clown, we will explore comedic timing, stage presence, breath, the absurd, problem solving in the clown world, stillness, character development, and improvisation in duos and trios. This class will be putting all the pieces together to bring a unique performance to the Wise Fool stage. It is all about authentic expression and tapping into our own inner clown.

This class will culminate in a performance at the end of the session!

Some clowning experience required- if you have not taken a class with SJ before, please reach out and we can determine if this is the right fit for you!

Sarah-Jane Moody has been working with Wise Fool since 1996 primarily as a clown but also loves to write, direct, make music, and disrupt the military industrial complex whenever possible. She is a graduate from the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, CA and has studied red nose clown with Avner Eisenberg, Giovanni Fusetti, and Ronlin Foreman to name a flattering few. The world of the clown and the journey that it proposes is quite profound and beautiful, and is a deep passion and constant source of inspiration and fascination.

If you need to drop your child off before 9:00am you must enroll them in Camp Before-Care. Must register 24 hours in advance.

We offer Camp Aftercare between 3:30pm - 5:00pm for circus camp kiddos with working parents. Please register 24 hours in advance.

Join us for a 2 hour Dance Trapeze workshop taught by Clara. Masking required.

This class is designed for students looking to deepen their understanding of the full body beat on lyra, and what dynamic pathways are available to them with that understanding (like top to bottom drops). Front and back hip circles and prep for elbow circles will also be covered.

Learn a variety of materials and techniques while you build your own Wise Fool style giant puppet! We'll start with clay sculpting and move through wheatpasting, cardboard construction, painting, internal frame construction, costume making, and how to bring your puppet to life! Limited spaces available - can work solo or share a slot between 2 people. Basic materials will be provided. Six session workshop - two classes a week for 3 weeks. Participants must commit to attending all 6 classes

In this workshop, students will learn some of the basic principles of partner work, including counterbalance, weight stacking and spotting.

In this class, you will learn a sequence that follows momentum through both dynamic and smooth movement pathways. It ends in a dramatic split with shape-portunities involving angular tension of the sling.

Interested in starting your aerial journey on metal apparatuses? You will get to try out static Trapeze & Lyra - no experience necessary.

This class is designed to help students build body awareness and engagement. With help from the instructor, students will find new ways of moving, warming up, and unwinding their bodies. Class will alternate focus on upper vs. lower body from week to week.

For students ages 11 – 15 of all experience levels. This class will offer instruction on trapeze, lyra, fabric and rope.

Time set aside to give students an opportunity to practice what they’ve been learning in class.

This class is a beginner-level Butoh course that will focus on the presence and stillness of the body-mind system.

Trapeze is the quintessential circus discipline, and a great way to build strength and coordination for other aerial apparatuses. Using bars at various heights, learn to use momentum, balance and skills on the bar and in the ropes.

Learn or further develop the fundamentals of aerial fabric, sometimes called “silks.” This course will include climbing, wraps, foot-locks, drops, and poses. From conditioning and basic skills to explorations in choreography, fabrics are a fun way to build core strength and flexibility while defying gravity!

As a Series Class, you will be building skills from week-to-week with your fellow students. Each class will build off the last as you climb to greater heights!

This class is intended for those who are looking to increase their strength, body awareness, and stamina.

Perfect for students who want to take their aerial skills to the next level and have confidence in performing longer acts and keep their fitness baseline up.

Aerial rope, also known as corde lisse, is a challenging but exciting aerial apparatus. Students will learn to climb, hold themselves in various positions, wrap for and perform drops, and explore movement quality.

This beginner-level series is suitable for students with no experience, through students who are working on beats, inversions, and multiple climbs. We will work on level-appropriate skills, sequences, and creative choreography in a progressive format.

Join Wise Fool's Teen Troupe for ages 13-18 and take your circus skills to the next level. Designed for students with at least 1 year experience in a Wise Fool program.

ELEVATE is a “circus boot-camp” for adults of all ages (16-70+), genders, and skill levels. This two-week camp takes place at Wise Fool Studio in Santa Fe. We will be wearing masks and social distancing in all classes.

Perfect for those with a 9-5 job, the focus of ELEVATE is personal fitness through circus skills in a supportive, challenging, and gender equal environment. By the end of the two weeks you'll become familiar with: Aerial Fabric, Trapeze, Mindfulness, Stilts, Object manipulation, Clowning and Conditioning. Raise your perceptions of what’s possible and get your workout off the ground at ELEVATE! Students receive 30 hours of conditioning and circus skills instruction. No previous experience required! BUST! seeks to be a socially engaged circus intensive for people who self identify as women or gender- non conforming. All shapes, sizes, ages, backgrounds and ability levels are welcome. In order to make the course as accessible as possible, we have from a fee and scholarship basis to an equity based system - meaning each participant will pay according to their ability/income. To register, please pay the $200 deposit. If the $200 deposit is a barrier to participation, please email studio@wisefoolnm.org. Once you are registered we will send you a questionaire about you, your goals, and your financial situation to determine where you fall on the scale.
